Dakota Learns¶
Let's learn something together.¶
Free, beginner-friendly learning — shared in public. I'm a lifelong learner sharing what I pick up, clearly and honestly, for anyone starting from zero. Right now the focus is computer science, but the throughline here is curiosity, not a single subject.
What you'll find here¶
- Courses — full, structured courses you can learn from for free. First up: CS 1050 — Computer Science 1 (Python).
- Guides — standalone walk-throughs for common starting points (installing Python, choosing an editor, and more).
- Blog — the learning-in-public journal: what I'm making, what I'm figuring out, and the occasional detour into whatever I'm curious about.
Today it's computer science — that's where the courses are and where I'm headed as a teacher. But Dakota Learns isn't locked to one topic; if I'm learning it, it might show up here.
Why free¶
I leaned on free and open resources my whole way through school and into my career — and I want to keep doing that while helping others. Everything here is free to read and learn from. If it helps you and you'd like to support more of it, you can sponsor the work — but you'll never hit a wall.
Who makes this¶
I'm Dakota — a data engineer who got here on free, open learning and wants to pay it forward, especially as I move toward teaching. More about the project
